The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) holds the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for the appointment of candidates in Grade “B” and “C” category posts at various Government Ministries, Departments, and Offices.The SSC Combined Graduate Level exam has a four-tier system, in which tier I and tier II are computer-based, while in tier III and IV, job applicants take up a descriptive paper and a computer proficiency test or skill test & document verification. The entire process of registration and communication will be online through the official website of SSC CGL. Aspirants must qualify each phase of the SSC CGL exam to go on to the next one, before being finally selected. 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released the official notification for the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2019 exam on 22 October. The CGL Examination for Tier I will be held from 2 to 11 March, 2020, and will be a computer based examination. According to the official notification, the Combined Graduate Level Examination-2019 for Tier II and III will be held from 22 to 25 June, 2020.
 The registration link will remain open till November 25, after which no application will be accepted.

SSC CGL 2019 Exam Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for SSC CGL 2019 has three important features:-
1. Essential Educational Qualifications
2. Age Limit
3. Citizenship: Candidate must be a citizen of India

Educational Qualifications (as on 01-01-2020)

Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university/institution. The educational qualifications vary according to the post for SSC CGL 2019 and are listed below

Important Note
The candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification on or before 01-01-2020.

Physical Fitness Requirements: Apart from the above, there are certain requisite physical standards for Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub-Inspector in CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and Sub-Inspector in NIA (National Investigation Agency).

SSC CGL 2019 Age Limit (as on 01-01-2020)

The minimum age limit defined for SSC CGL is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 32 years.

SSC CGL 2019 VACANCIES

The tentative vacancy for SSC CGL 2019 will be released soon by Staff Selection Commission of India. As per last year's notification released by SSC, a total of 8089 vacancies were to be filled by SSC CGL 2018 exam. Hence, this year also 8000+ vacancies are expected to be filled by SSC.

SSC CGL Tier I 2019 - Exam Pattern

Tier I is an objective exam which will be held online. There will be 100 Questions in 4 sections in Tier I exam of SSC CGL 2019. Each question will carry 2 marks which make a total of 200 marks. The subject-wise bifurcation of marks is given below:

Tier II exam is an objective exam which will be conducted online. There are four papers in this Tier. The subject-wise detail is given below:

  • In Tier-II, Paper-I and Paper-II are compulsory for all the posts.
  • Paper-III of Tier-II will be for only those candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Statistical Investigator Grade-II in the office of Registrar General, India (M/o Home Affairs) and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for these posts.
  • In Tier-II, Paper-IV will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-IV i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.

SSC CGL 2019 Tier III Exam Pattern

This is a descriptive exam with the purpose of testing the writting skills of the candidates in English/Hindi. It is held offline. The candidates are required to write essay/letter/application/precis. In order to prepare for this section one needs to read lots of articles from various newspapers and magazines. Besides this, you need to be well-versed with the latest pattern of letter and application.

  • Tier-I, Tier-II & Tier-III exams are compulsory for all posts mentioned in the SSC CGL 2019 notification.

SSC CGL 2019 Tier IV

Tier 4 Exam of SSC CGL Exam 2019 will have the couple of skill tests which are necessary for certain government posts.
1. DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): It is a qualifying candidates skill test for all the posts, other than Compiler. It is held to test the typing speed of the candidate. In this test, the candidates are given the printed material in English which they should type accurately on a computer with a minimum of 2000 key depressions. The duration of this test is 15 minutes.
2. CPT (Computer Proficiency Test):  SSC will hold CPT in three modules - Word Processing, Spread Sheet and Generation of Slides. CPT is a test for the posts of Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC.
3. Document Verification: The last step of the final selection would be document verification.

How to apply for SSC CGL EXAM 2019
  1. First of all, log in to the official website http://ssc.nic.in
  2. Register as a new user at the website which can be created by using a valid email ID and phone number. You will get OTP of the required ID you want to generate for SSC portal.
  3. After you click on the Apply button, you will get the application form, fill it online.
  4. You need to have the scanned copies of the recent passport size photograph, signature, and thumb impression to fill the application.
  5. You can pay the application fee online or through a Challan which will be generated after you have filled in the required application of SSC CGL 2019 Exam.
  6. After registration click on the Apply button to get the application submitted to the portal.
  7. Then click on the Submit button after cross-checking the details or else you will not be able to make any changes afterward.
  8. Download the duly filled-in application form.
  9. Take the print out for future references.
